What is a Fine Art Figure Study?

A figure study a collaboration between model and photographer. It is not like a portraiture session (whose focus is representing the model), nor is it a glamour or Boudoir shoot (which places the emphasis on the sensational or the romantic). In fact, it is really not about the photographer or model at all. Rather, it is using the human form to express an emotional or aesthetic message for the viewer to connect with in the image.

The work you see here was done both on location and in my studio. The models are everyday people, not professionals. People like you.

Images were crafted using medium format film and hand-printed by me in my darkroom on silver gelatin fiber papers to museum standards.
